I have a very slight overbite. The dentist tells my parents that I do not really need braces for it, since it is very slight and not noticeable. However I know about it and what it fixed. My teeth are straight and other then the overbite they are fine. I can not believe that the dentist would advise my parents that I do not need to have braces. Now how can I convince them otherwise.
This is just my opinion. In stead of trying to convince your mom into a very large bill that she may not be able to afford. Try doing this. You are 15 depending on your state you should be able to start working soon. Why don’t you sit down and talk to your mom. See if you pay for part of the braces would she then be able to yet you have them. She still may say no, at that point if you still want them you may have to wait until you are 18 to buy them for yourself.
I know that it is hard sometimes not to get what you want. However if you really want them you will make it happen even if you have to pay for them.
If your mom insurance does not cover for braces you may want to look into a dental discount plan. They will normally save you about 20% off the cost of braces. Metal braces are normally the less expensive ones to get however keep in mind that still going to run around 3000-4000 depending on why you need them and for how long. Some dental discount plans start the next business day so you can have braces as soon as you can afford them. Since you are not to far from working age maybe since you want the braces you can help your mom with the cost of them which might make her be able to get them for you. Talk to her about that and see if it would work for you.
I listed a link below for the dental discount plans if you want to check them out.
